This
beautiful hardcover volume, titled Flora, The Complete Flowers, showcases
the work of Robert Mapplethorpe and was published by Phaidon Press. This is the 2016 first edition of the book,
which contains 368 pages of inspired photographic flower portraits within red cloth-bound
boards and a red cloth slipcase. The
book is organized into sections, such as Polaroids, Orchids, Roses, and Irises,
with both brilliant color and black and white images.
The introduction to this monograph is by Herbert Muscham, with an additional essay by the artist’s friend Dimitri Levas, who also edited the book with Mark Holborn.
Condition of the book is like new, with pages that are tightly bound, unmarked, unfaded, and uncreased. The slipcase is also in excellent condition. The book is a weighty eight and a half pounds.
This is an impressive and luxurious volume that is a delight to the eye and the intellect.
