Studor Tec-Vent Commercial Air Admittance Valve, 1-1/2-Inch Connection

  • Air admittance valve made of flame-retardant, high-tensile-strength polycarbonate resin (UV rated for outdoor installation)
  • Great for commercial applications including airports, boiler rooms, schools, and hospitals; capacity of up to 160 DFUs (drain fixture units) on a branch and 24 DFUs on a stack
  • Creates ventilation that prevents the release of foul air from the drainage system and the loss of water seals in traps; uses gravity to automatically close seal and prevent circulation of unpleasant bathroom or drain odors
  • Fits 1-1/2-inch piping; complies to ANSI/ASSE 1050 and 1051; temperature rating of -40°F to 150°F (-40°C to °C); this style air admittance valve is not recognized as a mechanical vent in the International Building Code
  • Exclusive vermin protection system keeps out bugs and foreign objects

  • The Studor Tec-Vent is an Air Admittance Valve (AAV)designed specifically for commercial applications and industries where flame-retardance is a priority but is also suitable for residential use. It is manufactured from flame-retardant material with a high tensile strength, providing savings by reducing the need for expensive flame-retardant vent piping. The Tec-Vent is an accepted alternative to replace all forms of conventional branch and stack venting. With localized active ventilation of the building drainage system, it is proven that the valve provides greater protection to prevent induced and self-siphonage of the fixture traps. The Tec-Vent opens and admits fresh air when the negative (suction) pressure occurs from a fixture discharging into the system. This equalizes the pressure within the system and protects the trap seal. When the flow stops, the Tec-Vent closes by gravity, preventing any transmission of foul air. The Tec-Vent is used as an alternative to extending the vent pipes through the roof or sidewall. The Tec-Vent is classified in the USA in accordance with Standard for safety 2043 - Fire for Heat and Visible Smoke Release for Discrete Products and Their Accessories Installed in Air-Handling Spaces - as to heat release and smoke optical density only (control number 9DA2)*.* When the system is designed by a design professional and approved by a local code official. Dimensions: 1-1/2-inch NPT, vent height x vent diameter. Polycarbonate construction with a temperature Rating of -40 to 150 deg F.
