DESCRIPTION:  This absolutely gorgeous, very pretty, quality, unusual, original, antique retractable comb which is situated within its own case, the latter being HALLMARKED as English sterling silver, dates back to 1932  and is from my personal British family heritage.  It was used very infrequently, if at all, consequently, is in extremely fine condition for its age.  NB. THE COMB CASE DOES BEAR A DATE MONOGRAM ON ONE SIDE ONLY, WHICH READS "APRIL 26th".  Being quality, the comb case bears two sets of extremely clear hallmarks, one on each side of the retractable case.  On each side, there is an anchor (Birmingham assay); lion;  "H" for date 1932 and the maker's mark " S.B. & S. Ltd.",  which represents " S. Blanckensee  & Son Ltd. ". NB.  THE COMB ITSELF BEARS NO HALLMARKS, ONLY ITS CASE.   Therefore, the comb itself may be chrome or similar as not hallmarked.   The  outer silver "case' is beautifully engine-turned in design, which was so reminiscent of the Art Deco period.   The retractable comb is hinged and attached to the outer case, as one item.  It opens and closes beautifully.   The case itself measures approx. max. 3  1/2" in length and approx. max. 5/8" in width and 1/8" in depth.    The comb itself measures approx. 2  5/8" in length   The whole item weighs 42g.  Any accessories used to display this item, such as the evening bag etc. are not included in the sale.
