Rare Antique Flemish Pyrography/Pokerwork Pipe Wall Hanging Stand, c1900.

This is an unusual wall hanging pipe holder most likely made in Flanders, an area of Belgium, it is typical of folk art from that area. The pyrography design has been created on a shield shaped wall plaque. It features at the top a pair of crossed pipes, below is a pipe smoking cavalier. The bottom section and borders are all adorned with floral patterns. There are two shelves, one has three holes to hold the pipe stems, the lower one has three depressions to cradle the pipe bowls. The holder will carry three pipes.

The pipe holder has age related patina and some minor scuffs. It measures approx. 26cm by 21cm by 4.5cm.

A great usable collectable piece.
