Details
Description: A beautiful and rather interesting nice size stoneware deep bowl by Left Handed Russell Henry. The bowl has a round footed base with curved then straight flared sides rising to a plain rim colored in green. The exterior side of the piece is decorated with a hand drawn scene depicting houses within a village surrounded by trees and a house flanked by two smaller structures on the opposite side of the village/bowl. This house has a banner saying "HAY CREEK POTS" which is Mr. Henry's business name. The houses are nicely colored with vivid and varied colors. There are small bids flying throughout. The green trees have brown trunks and look great. There is green grass all around. The decoration is done over a yellowish colored background. The piece is glazed inside and out, but not on the base. The art work is beautiful and typical of Pennsylvania folk art. The base is signed by Russell Henry himself. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: November 1992.
Origin: Birdsboro, PA; Berks County, Pennsylvania USA.
Size: The bowl is ~4 7/8" diameter at the base, ~7 5/8" in diameter at the top, and is ~2 3/4" high. The piece weighs slightly over one and half pounds.
Maker: Russell Henry
Marks: Marked on the bottom 11/92 "?H" (Back facing R and H) "HAY CREEK" for Hay Creek Pottery his company and "Left Handed Russell Henry". See Last two photos for details.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very nice piece with a very nice shape and coloring. A nice piece of folk-art pottery to add to your collection.
Condition: The bowl is in very good condition with no cracks, repairs, chips or hairlines. The piece possibly shows minor signs of crazing to the glaze, of which we are not certain. This is a very nice piece in great condition after being around for over 30 years, which would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
