Official commemorative Metallic First Day Cover issued in 1977 by the International Society of Postmasters to honor 19th century fire fighting appliances in New Zealand.
This limited edition collector set includes
• A sterling silver proof medal depicting a horse drawn steam fire engine in action
• Original New Zealand 12c commemorative postage stamp

The silver medal was sculpted by William Shoyer and minted by The Franklin Mint. The stamp illustrates the Shand Mason steam fire engine of 1873, an important example of early firefighting technology used throughout the British Commonwealth.
