DESCRIPTION:
Antique 1924 etching by listed German artist Josef Steib (1898-1957). An interesting image of a crow feeding her two babies.
The etching is printed on high quality, heavy cream-colored paper with deckled edges on 2 sides. The paper measures 8 3/8" by 9 1/8". The image (plate mark) measures approximately 4 1/2" x 6 1/8". The artists "JS" monogram and the date "24" appear in the print, lower right. It is also signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right margin.
The etching is unframed, but is in excellent condition. Free Domestic Shipping!
Josef Steib is a well listed German painter and graphic artist. He had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Guggenheim. He studied at Dusseldorf. From 1935 he worked in Berlin. Lived in Munich / Cologne/ Cochem / Mosel. Represented in the Eifel Museum, in the Nordhausen collection and the art collection of Nuremberg. He traveled throughout Germany, in many European countries, Africa and Asia Minor. His work represents city views, animals of the world and working people. He has illustrated many publications.
