Description: A beautiful uncirculated banknote from France (uncirculated with detail being a stain in the lower right corner). This is the May 23, 1793 Assignat de cinquante sols or fifty sols banknote. The banknote is off-white in color with black printing. It depicts, on the front's bottom left and right corners two allegorical women one holding scales and the other reading a tablet. The number 50s is written on the front of what I would characterize as a pedestal. The note is series 3308 and has no serial number noted but has a signature in the center of the front. The note has two raised seal marks on the front left and right of center one depicting a winged man standing by a column with a constitutional tablet and having the word REGNE DE LA LOI surrounding him. The other is a an allegorical woman standing with the scale of justice in her hand. The banknote has a watermark showing the letters RF over 50 making it Pick A70b. The back of the note is blank. Condition: I would grade this banknote as uncirculated with a detail, being a stain in the lower right corner of the front. The note has all of its details very well preserved. The note has no folds or pinholes. The note is clean with no graffiti, but has the brown stain already discussed in the lower right corner. It is crudely trimmed and this shows as uneven sides and edges. Other than that, this is a beautiful note worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see scans for additional condition information.
