I bought this new in 1996. It was over $1k new which is $2k in todays $. Did not see much use and stored in the bag for many years with out batteries installed. When I recently powered it up, the LCD showed dead pixels. I just replaced it with a new LED backlit LCD display. The backlight draws very little current as compared to the original so its always on which makes for easy viewing. The carry bag, batteries, and a printed manual are included. Ships in original box. As for performance, this vintage detector still stands nearly even with any detector sold today.
