9 x small photos of Gaza War Cemetery, Palestine, 1941/42, WWII
Nine small photos (6 x 8 cm) of Gaza War Cemetery, Palestine owned by an Australian soldier, S H Knott, during the WWII North Africa campaign. Knott has written locations and notes on the back of most photos.
Lance Corporal S H Knott (SX 8156) was born in 1908 in South Australia and enlisted in July 1940. He was a truck driver in the Australian Army Ordnance Corps (AAOC) operating out of the base camp in Gaza, (then) Palestine, and Barbara. He helped supply ordnance to the Australian 6th and 9th Division, including while at Tobruk. This listing is part of a trove of items from Knott, including photos of Gaza, its people, his army colleagues, a rare base journal from Palestine, Gaza war cemetery, and a photo of the 6 DIV 'surf carnival' on Gaza beach. Please see the Tony Mack Book store for these listings.
