Signed Original Small Bag Or Priming Powder Horn. Measuring 6" long (straight across), the base plug is 1 15/16" by 1 5/8", and this weighs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. J.V.Y made his mark on the one side, so I'm pretty sure that he was the maker. This is in reasonably good condition and was not cleaned. There are some scratches, scuffs, and light dings on the body. There is one small spot where a worm started to work in, but he didn't go all the through. There is some stains under the iron nails for the plug. The spout is 8 sided and is good, but this will need a spout plug. The base plug looks to be pine. That has some dings and wear, and there is another nail in the center a bit of hard leather around it from an old and long gone strap. This guy is tight and no air moves through it at all. This ain't pristine, but it's sure not bad, and it's a great example of this kind of horn. A good addition to any powderhorn collectible for sure!
