California art pottery vase by Ray West 1991. Crystalline glaze on a hand-thrown porcelain body. Signed and dated, incised into the bottom. Beautifully thrown and glazed by this well known American ceramic artist. Ray West has a workshop, Sequoia Studio, in the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains on a tract of private land in what has become the Sequoia National Monument. He is admired for his crystalline glazes on classical porcelain shapes.
