Boston and New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1901. Original green cloth decorated in gilt. First Edition of this historical romance sited around and about Hamilton House, the author's home in South Berwick, Maine. It concerns "a young American officer during the Revolution and his conflicting duty to his king and to his native land" [OCAL]. There were five printings dated 1901, but only the first (as here) has all two points: "Published September, 1901" on the copyright page, 34 lines of text on page 154. This book is in excellent condition for being published in 1901. Some of the first few pages have been earmarked but there is nothing underlined or highlighted. Pet free smoke free home. A phenomenal 125 year old addition to any library.
