Authentic Libyan desert glass from the Sahara Desert. Libyan desert glass is a tektite thought to have formed around 29 million years ago as the result of a large meteor impact. A pectoral brooch found in King Tutankhamun's tomb features a scarab carved from a specimen of this material. Libyan desert glass has a matte "finish" from the desert wind causing it to have contact with the sand over time. Due to the desert conditions and common transportation practices, it is common for specimens to have some chipping. My Libyan desert glass is bargain priced.
