In 1909, noted artist Birger Sandzen was on the faculty of the College.  Under his leadership, he was able to expand the arts department of the college and to get contributions from some of the country's most eminent artists.  He is well known for being one of the founding members of the Prairie Print Makers, a group of Kansas artists whose mail goal was to make art affordable for all.
