2 Vintage Leica Product Directories + Red Dial Flash Guide Numbers Insert

  • This lot starts with a Leica Product Directory from E. Leitz, Inc. New York. It appears to be dated 10/54. It’s in good condition, showing some wear from use. The original owner inserted a misogynistic column about depth of field which was in a New York newspaper. There was also a short column about the use of filters on the page dealing with filters.
  • This edition can make current buyers of vintage Leica equipment weep. A new M3 without a lens was $288. With a 50/1.5 Summarit it was $468. The SBOOI 5cm optical finder, currently selling for around $250 was $10.20 in 1954.
  • Leica photographic equipment Catalog No. 35 is dated 2/60. The SBOOI was the same price then. This catalog is in excellent condition. Apparently from the same estate, as there is a column by the same author, Hale Williamson, about “New Kodacolor Film Good in Any Light”. The column actually has some good information in it.
  • Tucked into one of these was the Red Dial Leica Flash Guide Numbers, specifically, for the M3. Printed 10/55. The numbers are different for using cameras with the black dial. This is a replacement page for pp 180-183 of the Leica Manual. It provides comprehensive guidance on how to determine the proper exposure with many different sizes of GE and Sylvania flashbulbs.

Refund Policy: Items that are not as described will result in a refund of the bid amount upon return of the item in the condition in which it was shipped.  This does not apply to finding a small scratch when the description says minor surface wear or similar issues.  If a package is damaged in transit, and if it was insured, the buyer must cooperate in filing the insurance claim (not a big deal).  The box and packing material must be kept and available for the post office if an item is insured and damaged in transit.  If an issue is not addressed in the description (I attempt to provide comprehensive descriptions) or if the bidder doesn’t understand the description and he or she did not ask a question about it, no refund will be made. Note: if the Post Office damages an item and still delivers it, it will refund only the bid amount and not the postage.  I will not make up the difference.

Payment

I'm a guy who looks for stuff to sell. I endeavor to provide timely service and to describe all items accurately.

Every item is sold as-is, subject to my description. If it is delivered as described, you may not return it for a refund if you decide you don't like it.

I am not the Post Office, nor am I an insurance company. e-bay considers every package insured and will not allow me to give you the choice. The shipping charge often includes the cost of insurance. The vast majority of items arrive in the same condition in which they were sent.

International packages generally require insurance unless they have a very low value. The usually means Priority Mail.

Terms of Sale

Sales are As-Is subject to my description. If you are the high bidder, by e-bay rules you are obligated to pay for the item, and I'm obligated to sell it.
