Clinical research
1. Microbiota changes induced by microencapsulated sodium butyrate in patients with inflammatory bowel disease
Description: Supplementation with sodium butyrate increases the growth of bacteria capable of producing SCFAs with potential anti-inflammatory effects.
2. Effect of oral butyrate supplementation on the inflammatory potential of circulating peripheral blood mononuclear cells in healthy and obese men
Description: Sodium butyrate supplementation for 4 weeks in men with metabolic syndrome showed moderate effects on cytokine responses and significantly reduced trained immunity, which may help reduce overall inflammation in obese patients.
3. Efficacy of sodium butyrate adjunctive therapy in the treatment of shigellosis: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial
Description: Butyrate supplementation during the treatment of dysentery helped rapidly reduce inflammation and increased LL-37 production in the rectal epithelium.
