Antique Victorian Gothic Revival Base / Stand
This is an original late 19th to early 20th century decorative base, crafted in cast metal with an octagonal wooden interior. The outer frieze features detailed Gothic Revival motifs, typical of the Victorian period (circa 1880–1910).
This type of base was originally used for:
• inkwells,
• small desk clocks,
• miniature sculptures,
• calling-card holders,
• or other decorative desk accessories.
The piece has a charming aged bronze patina and the wooden interior shows its original varnish. A central screw hole is visible on the bottom — confirming it previously supported another object.
Perfect for:
Collectors, restorers, Victorian desk items, and anyone looking for a unique stand for a small clock, figure, or inkwell.
Condition
