Oh Glorious
Tintinnabulation, original playscript written by June Havoc, 59 pages (some are typed, some are
mechanical reproductions), heavily annotated in pencil throughout, undated,
bound in gray boards with two brass brads, in good condition (the script is a
working copy that has been significantly handled). The pencil annotations appear to be in several
hands including June Havoc whose handwriting is very distinctive. Included in the script are several pages of
song lyrics that were also written by June Havoc. It is difficult to tell when the script was
written as there is no published edition to compare it. The script comes from a recent estate sale of
actress Doris Roberts who was likely to have been a member of the cast when the
play was presented off Broadway in 1974.
It is extremely scarce.
June
Havoc (1912 ? 2010) was a Canadian born actress, dancer, writer, and theater
director. She was a child vaudeville
performer with her sister Gypsy Rose Lee under the tutelage of her mother Rose
Thompson Hovick. Later she became well known on Broadway and
then in Hollywood. Her best known films
are My Sister Eileen (1942), Gentleman?s Agreement (1947), and Can?t Stop the Music (1980).
