Jerry
Lee, gouache painting on board of two deer, signed in the lower right,
about 9 by 14 ½ inches, matted (14 by 19 ¾ inches). The painting is in excellent condition but
the matte is soiled and the four corners are bumped).
Jerry Lee was born in 1944 at the Wide Ruins on the Navajo Nation
in northeastern Arizona. He won a first
place award in the Scottsdale National Indian Art Exhibition in 1964 and then
began his studies under Beatien Yazz. His works can be found in many private
collections and public collections such as the Heard Museum in Phoenix,
Arizona, the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Museum of
Northern Arizona.
