OBDResource OBD2 USB ELM327 V1.5 Diagnostic Tool
Product Overview
The OBDResource OBD2 USB ELM327 V1.5 is a professional-grade USB diagnostic interface specifically engineered for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Mazda vehicles. Utilizing a PIC18F25K80 microcontroller and featuring a unique MS-CAN/HS-CAN switch, this tool provides access to the vast majority of a vehicle's electronic control modules. It enables a wide range of functions, from basic trouble code reading to advanced module programming, making it the ideal choice for DIY enthusiasts and tech-savvy car owners.
Key Features & Advantages
Professional-Grade Chipset & Stability
At its core is the reliable PIC18F25K80 main processor, paired with a CH340 USB-to-Serial chip, ensuring full compatibility with the ELM327 v1.5 command set and superior communication stability far exceeding that of cheap, generic clones.
The direct USB connection guarantees a stable, uninterrupted data stream, eliminating the latency and dropout issues common with Bluetooth adapters. This makes it exceptionally well-suited for data logging and module programming, where reliability is critical.
Dual CAN Bus Switching (Core Feature)
The integrated physical "MS-CAN/HS-CAN Switch" is the key differentiator from standard OBD2 scanners.
HS-CAN (High-Speed CAN): Used for accessing powertrain-related modules like the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), TCM (Transmission Control Module), and ABS.
MS-CAN (Medium-Speed CAN): Used for accessing body comfort and convenience modules like the BCM (Body Control Module), door modules, and instrument cluster.
By toggling this switch, you can achieve comprehensive vehicle coverage for complete diagnostics and configuration.

Perfect Integration with FORScan Software
This adapter is the officially recommended hardware for use with FORScan software, a powerful diagnostic program specializing in Ford-family vehicles.
Together, this combination unlocks most of the capabilities found in professional dealership-level diagnostic tools.
Primary Functions
Comprehensive Diagnostics: Read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from all modules (Engine, Transmission, ABS, Airbags, Body, etc.).
Live Data: View and graph real-time data streams (e.g., RPM, Vehicle Speed, Mass Air Flow, Fuel Trim, Sensor Data).
Actuator Tests: Perform active tests to activate various vehicle components and solenoids for troubleshooting.
Service Functions: Execute special service procedures such as DPF Forced Regeneration, Oil Reset, Steering Angle Sensor Calibration, and more.
Module Programming & Configuration: Perform module programming (reflash), parameter configuration, and personalized settings (e.g., enabling hidden features, adjusting tire size, adding spare keys). [HIGH-RISK OPERATION - REQUIRES CAUTION]
Compatibility Information
Primary Support: Perfectly compatible with the vast majority of Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Mazda vehicles from model year 2000 and newer (including F-Series trucks, Mustang, Explorer, Fusion, Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5, etc.), covering approximately 99% of models post-2000.
Basic Support: Functions as a standard OBD2 scanner for basic engine/emissions diagnostics on most other vehicle brands from 1996 and newer.
Known Incompatibilities:
Not compatible with the all-new Mazda 3 (2019+ model year) and CX-30.
Not intended for use with trailers or semi-trucks.
Getting Started Guide
Software Setup: Visit the official website at forscan.org to download the FORScan software (free trial available) and the necessary CH340T USB driver.
Install Driver: Before connecting the device, install the CH340T USB driver on your Windows laptop.
Vehicle Connection: Plug the adapter into your vehicle's OBD2 port (located under the dashboard). Connect the adapter to your laptop using a USB cable.
Select Mode: Based on the module you need to diagnose, set the physical switch to either the HS-CAN or MS-CAN position.
Begin Diagnosis: Run the FORScan software "As Administrator" to start diagnosing your vehicle.
Important Notices & Warnings
[HIGH-RISK WARNING]: Modifying module settings (Programming/Configuration) via the OBD2 port carries inherent risks. Incorrect operation can potentially damage vehicle modules or cause them to function incorrectly.
ALWAYS create a backup of your vehicle's original configuration (As-Built Data) BEFORE making any changes.
ALWAYS double and triple-check all settings and codes before confirming any write procedure.
Troubleshooting Tip: If you encounter issues on Windows 10, try setting the FORScan software's compatibility mode to "Windows 7" and ensure it is always run "As Administrator".
Driver Requirement: The CH340T driver MUST be installed successfully for your computer to recognize the device. Failure to install the driver will prevent the tool from working.
