Limited Edition bronze sculpture titled "AFTER THE BLOW" by American artist Vince Valdez, depicting a humpback whale in dynamic motion just after surfacing.  Cast in 1989, this finely detailed piece is numbered 18 from a series of 50 produced.  The whale is rendered with flowing anatomical precision and features a rich patina (dark bronze body with mottled greens on the top, bright bronze underbody), accentuating the texture of the body and flukes.  The sculpture is mounted on a rotating black base set atop a polished oval wood plinth with a brass title plaque.  The Artist's signature, copyright mark, date, and edition number are incised on the underside of the tail.
