Mid 20th Century

900 Silver German

Fend Ballpoint Pen

Classy 900 grade silver German

made ballpoint pen by

FEND

 I couldn’t find out a huge amount

about the Fend company other than

that they started in either 1899

or 1900.

One source said they closed in 1967

and just read someone else

saying it was the 1990s.

They were most famous for their

multi-coloured ballpoint pens and

propelling pencils and this is what

seems to be mostly for sale as well.

Not that there’s a lot of any sort of

Fend pen for sale in comparison to

all the other high end vintage brands.

This one is also in the original case with

the instruction pamphlet in several

languages for models:-

FEND -

TRUXA 1

TRUXALETTE

MIGNON

I have not found any with boxes like

this anywhere so this makes it

extra extra special although I think

it may be for a pen and pencil set

as the blue elastic is too big for just

one pen but perhaps it has just

stretched – not sure.

We have another original vintage

Fend silver biro or pen in it's case

(which is listed separately)

This one still has the original Fend

refill inside! (see photo) which has

either run out or dried out.

The shirt pocket clip on this one

has a very Art Deco style F

logo on it and is engraved on

the other side

FEND  900  Germany

It is 10 sided with ‘pinstripe’ type

parallel line detailing and on side

there’s a blank section for personalising

but nothing has been engraved on it.

These pens probably date to the 1950s

or 60s but this pen in particular has a

distinctly Art Deco 1930s look to it –

especially the clip’s logo.
