For sale is an antique handwoven prayer rug from Maden, a traditional village in the Toros mountains of Central Anatolia, modern day Turkey.

The rug features a mihrab, an arch-shaped niche that points towards Mecca during prayer, a primary indicator of a prayer rug, as well as natural color variations, known as abrash. It has a bold red / orange field and intricate geometric and floral patterns within the multiple borders. Anatolian prayer rugs commonly feature these stepped or geometric mihrabsIt's made of hand-spun and hand-dyed wool on a wool or cotton foundation.

The rug measures 4' x 6' ft (46" x 70" inches) and had been in my storage room for many years since I purchased it on eBay many years ago. The bottom right corner was torn with the remaining pieces being stitched back together at some point in the past, but overall this antique rug is in excellent used condition, and as expected for an item over a century old, displays some normal signs of use. I've placed the rug into an apartment's interior (Photo #2 and #7) for you to be able to visualize it better.

I've posted quite a lot of photos, including the close-up images, so please look through them carefully and let me know if you have any questions. I'm open to reasonable offers.
