This Medium Desert Rose (Adenium obesum) is a beautifully formed caudex succulent, grown in an 12cm pot.
Known for its sculptural, swollen trunk and elegant branching structure, this species naturally develops the classic bonsai-like silhouette that collectors love.
As it matures, the Desert Rose produces striking trumpet-shaped flowers, making it both an architectural statement plant and a rewarding long-term grower.
A perfect choice for collectors, beginners, and anyone who appreciates structural, slow-growing succulents.
Adenium obesum requires strong, bright light.
Place it in a south-facing window or any location that receives several hours of direct sunlight daily.
Good light is essential for thick caudex development and compact growth.
Water sparingly.
Allow the soil to dry completely before watering again.
During colder months or dormancy, significantly reduce watering, as the Desert Rose becomes more sensitive to overwatering and root rot.
Keep the plant above 10°C at all times.
Ideal growing temperatures are between 20–30°C.
Avoid placing it near cold drafts or directly against windows in winter.
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
A gritty and porous substrate helps protect the roots and promotes healthy caudex formation.
During spring and summer, feed once a month with a diluted balanced fertiliser to support growth and flowering.
Do not fertilise during winter dormancy.
