This is an exceptional, fully handmade Cathedral Window quilt, begun on April 15, 1931, as embroidered on the back by the original maker L. P. Coles. Cathedral Window quilts are among the most labor-intensive quilt styles ever created, requiring hundreds of hours of careful folding, pressing, and hand-stitching. This large example features beautiful 1930s–1940s feedsack and calico prints framed within classic ivory cotton “window” arches.
