DiMillo's Floating Restaurant
Portland, ME
Red Swizzle Stick Stirrer

  • A converted car ferry: The restaurant is located inside the hull and decks of a former car ferry that was renamed "New York" after being built in 1941. It was used in Delaware and Virginia before being sold to Rhode Island and eventually brought to Portland.
  • Established in 1982: Restaurateur Tony DiMillo converted the ferry into his most ambitious restaurant in 1982, continuing a legacy that began with his first eatery in 1954.
  • A historical landmark: Historical menus from 1982 and 1989 are preserved at the Portland Public Library. The restaurant is located in the heart of Portland's Old Port, and the DiMillo family also owns the surrounding marina.
