This is an original WWII and Korean War–era U.S. Navy pilot’s wrist compass, manufactured by Waltham Precision Instrument Company (W.P.I.C.) under government military contract R-88-C-890. These compasses were first introduced in the late stages of World War II and were issued to U.S. Navy aviators as an emergency backup in the event of cockpit compass failure.

Material: OD (Olive Drab) green-painted brass casing
Face: North-to-south white navigational alignment stripe across the crystal lens for directional orientation. These compasses are considered a rare and iconic piece of American military survival gear, bridging the combat eras from WWII through Korea and into early Vietnam.
