A very pretty George III silver wirework cream pail or small sugar basket with a vertical frame adorned with a scrolling grape vine applied with leaves, grapes and birds in flight. Rope twist edge to the rim and foot and a cast rope effect swing hinged handle. Fitted with a blue glass liner. Unmarked; it has been tested as silver for completeness. Dating to c.1760-1770, probably London.

It measures 10.5cm (4 1/8") high with the handle up, 6.3cm (2 1/2") to the rim and 8cm (3 1/8") wide.

Condition is excellent with no damage, losses or repairs. Minor handling wear. The liner appears to be a bespoke replacement, with clear age and fitting perfectly.
