This is a Fabergé Imperial Collection Gatchina Palace Egg Ornament, produced in the mid-1990s as part of the officially licensed series inspired by the historic Imperial Eggs. This design features white enamel with openwork gold filigree and the repeating crest-and-garland motif associated with the Gatchina pattern. The ornament opens on its hinge to a gold-tone interior signed “Fabergé,” confirming it as part of the Imperial Collection.
The Gatchina Palace ornament takes its name from the 1890 Gatchina Palace Imperial Egg, one of Fabergé’s early commissions for the Imperial family. The original was decorated in white enamel with open gold filigree and crest motifs representing the Imperial residence at Gatchina, a grand palace just outside St. Petersburg. This ornament incorporates the same combination of white enamel and gold openwork that characterized the historic egg.
This example includes both original identification pieces:
• the Gatchina Palace ornament sticker, identifying the specific design
• the Fabergé Imperial Collection information card
Inside is the original pendant necklace—the “surprise” included with these ornaments—kept in its Fabergé velvet pouch. The Gatchina style is one of the more recognizable white enamel patterns in the Imperial Collection.

I entrusted my mother and father's (Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz) memorabilia to Connectibles, and during the entire evaluation and auction process, never for a moment did I feel anything less than completely confident, protected and guided by experienced and compassionate professionals who love what they do. We got wonderful results and the best part... it was great fun!"
