A remarkably intact set of 6cups and 6 saucers with creamers and sugar bowl and tea pot from renowned Danish potter, Henrik Ditlev Larsen. Ditlev was a very skilled potter and his work is both elegant and simple. These pieces have a lovely yellow/brown speckled glaze on the interior and half of the exterior, with a dark chocolate unglazed lower portion. All have a small round stamp “Ditlev Denmark” on the underside.
Ditlev pottery was expertly made and thrown, with tough glazes and superb quality clay. As a result of the quality materials used and very high firing, the stoneware is remarkably resilient. Sold through Den Permanente in Copenhagen, a 1967 catalogue shows the pieces being offered here . Made in Denmark.
MCM Danish modern two-tone ceramic tea/coffee set by Henrik Ditlev Larsen. The upper portion of each piece is glazed, while the lower half is unglazed chamotte clay. The set was never used and only utilized for display and is in excellent condition with no signs of wear.
