A delightful Worcester blue and white porcelain butter boat moulded with geranium leaf exterior with irregular shaped rim and looped stalk handle with flat lug thumb rest. Painted with the "pickle leaf daisy" pattern, c.1758-1760. Small workman's mark to the base.
Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain 1751-1790, Branyan, French & Sandon, section I.E.41.
It measures 8cm (3 1/8") long, 6cm (2 3/8") wide and 3.5cm (1 3/8") high.
Condition is excellent with just a couple of very minor faults; there is a small chip to the tip one of the serrations. A small glaze chip to the upper edge and a fleabite under the rim. A small shallow glaze loss / slither chip to the foot and two minor firing faults to the handle. No repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. The pattern is lovely and clear with no discernible smudging or running from firing.
