STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE Episode 1 Sneak Preview (Hasbro) 1998

This action figure of Mace Windu, who was portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, was the first action figure available based on the Star Wars prequel trilogy Episode I: The Phantom Menace and comes in the original unopened shipping box (original address removed from photo).

The figure was offered by Hasbro as a mail-away promotion in late 1998, and was one of two sneak preview figures which both came packaged as part of the Power of the Force 2 line and introduced the new "starburst" design motif with highly sought after information about the upcoming film printed on the back. The other figure was a Battle Droid w/ S.T.A.P vehicle and was available in retail locations, while this Mace Windu figure was only available as part of a mail-away promotion that included sending $2.99, six proof of purchases from the POTF Star Wars figure line and a receipt for six Hasbro Star Wars toys dated between 10/1/98 and 12/31/98. It was limited to five per househould. The figure features Mace Windu in his (removeable) Jedi robes, holding a blue lightsaber (not the purple one he would wield in the movies). 

STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE was a toy line produced by Hasbro from 1995 to 2000, featuring characters, vehicles, and accessories from the original trilogy and the Expanded Universe. It was the first Star Wars action figure collection since the vintage line ended in 1985. The initial figures had a muscular look that was later toned down for more movie accuracy. The packaging design changed over the years, from orange to green to hologram to freeze frame. The toy line was well received by collectors and fans, and introduced many new characters and variations to the Star Wars universe.
