A very fine George II silver two bottle oil and vinegar cruet stand. The silver frame is set on four scrolled legs with scallop shell feet and has an acanthus leaf moulded handle at the rear. Fitted with a pair of cut glass bottles with slip on silver covers. To each side is a small circular hoop designed to hold the silver covers while the bottle are being used. There is an ornate asymmetric scrolled framed cartouche to the front that is free of engraving. Hallmarked to the underside for London 1757, and maker's mark for Jabez Daniell who was a specialist maker of cruet stands. The covers are unmarked but this is the usual practice and they are original to the set.

It measures 18.5cm (7 1/4") wide, by 10cm (4") deep. It stands 20cm (7 7/8") high with the bottles inside. The silver weighs 368g / 11.8ozt. Total weight 796g.

Condition is excellent with no damage and just one small, neat repair to the back right leg at the join with the stand which is not visible unless inspected from below. Minor handling wear to both silver and glass.
