An early Davenport coffee cup of etruscan shape with an angular handle boldly decorated with an underglaze blue ground with shaped reserves painted with garden flowers in bright enamels. Ornate gilt embellishment over the blue ground and as a feathered border inside the edge of the rim. A gilt star device sits inside the base. Brown wreath mark to the base, c.1818-1825.
It measures 6cm (2 3/8") high, 7.8cm (3 1/16") rim to rim and 9cm (3 9/16") rim to handle.
In good condition: there is a tight hairline to the rim visible on the inside. A small amount of wear to the gilt on the handle tip but minimal handling wear otherwise.
