ANCESTOR MASK

Ancestor masks from the lower sepik are often associated with initiation, war and protection from evil bush spirits. Generally made from wood with elongated noses, narrow eyes and detailed intricate carvings upon the surface. This is a fine old mask with white highlights around the eyes and detailed carvings upon the face.
