A rare signed review copy of Maverick, a classic autobiography from the prolific theater/opera director Frank Corsaro - and from the personal library of Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times music critic Donal Henahan (to whom the book is inscribed, along with a publisher's letter and photo). Corsaro's early work included "A Hatful of Rain," directing Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy in "The Honeys" (an adaptation of two Roald Dahl short stories), and the Broadway production of "The Night of the Iguana" (Tennessee Williams). His elaborate productions often pushed the boundaries of opera out of its comfort zone - and would earn him the title of "opera's most controversial director." Later he became known for numerous artistic collaborations with Maurice Sendak.
A very nice copy of the book (light/minimal wear from age, light smudge to the page edges), with a dust jacket protected in a new mylar sleeve. Inscribed to Donal Henehan with a reference likely from Mozart's Don Giovanni ("Dalla sua Pace").
