4 VINTAGE CURTIS NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS

Striking set of four black and white sepia toned photographic prints, each measuring 8" wide by 10" tall. Housed within the original cellophane and backed with foam board measuring 15" square in size, prints include the following:

APSAROKE: BIRD ON THE GROUND ~ SEATED ON HORSE accompanied by a poem by Helen Graham Bronson titled NOSTALGIA;

APSAROKE: HOLDS THE ENEMY accompanied by a poem by Helen Graham Bronson of the same name;

NAVAJO: SILVERSMITH'S DAUGHTER accompanied by a poem by Helen Graham Bronson titled HIDDEN TREASURE; and

APSAROKE-CROW: MOTHER WITH CHILD accompanied by a poem by Helen Graham Bronson titled GREAT SPIRIT'S GIFT.

Three images were taken originally by Edward Lewis - the last by an unknown photographer.

I purchased these in the early 1990s - always intended to frame these striking black and white Indian images as a group -- just never got around to it. The original price tags are still on the cellophane. Condition is very nice with light storage damage to the foam board tips, a soft, slight bend up the right side of one of the board backs that does not impact the print, a compression punch through the Mother and Child image within the dark of her clothing on the lower left side, and very minor scuffing to the cellophane covers. Images have wonderfully captured a hint at the culture, pride, and clothing of the Native American people -- lovely addition to any home or collection!
