1908 COOKBOOK
Wonderful and rare antique softbound California cookbook titled SAN ANSELMO COOK-BOOK ~ By The Ladies of SAINT ANSELM'S CHURCH, SAN ANSELMO, CALIFORNIA, dated 1908 - this is a First Edition. Measuring about 9" by 6" at 168 pages, I believe this was published as a way for church members to share their favorite recipes while raising special project funds -- it contains of-the-era advertising from many San Anselmo businesses. Love the promotional on the first page for Escalle Park.
Condition is lovely with no tears, holes, writing, missing pages, or damage -- there is a bit of crimping on the bottom of several pages towards to the back, light wear to the grey stock paper covers, faint toning to the interior pages, and a hand written pencil notation date on the last page top - I think this can carefully be erased. Covering chapters on everything from Beverages to Vegetables, writing so reflects the era - it is an entertaining read, filled with unusual and hard-to-find recipes. A wonderful, rare old California cookbook and a lovely addition to any home, collection or display!
