ANTIQUE NUTMEG GRATER TOOL

Wonderful antique 1890s primitive soldered tin nutmeg grater tool measuring about 6-1/4" in size. Featuring a coffin shape, top is finely pierced for grating, back is pierced for hanging, lid is hinged for storing nutmeg nuts, and base is open for releasing the grated spice.

Condition is wonderful with no dents, discoloration or damage other than typical patination and darkening to the tin from age and use - there are a few fine touches of surface rust with in the piercings -- and a hint of irregularity to the shape from make and age - please note -- the original nutmeg nut is still housed in the lidded holding (I don't think it should be used). This is so visually interesting ~ a neat antique kitchen tool that looks perfect hanging in a display of old tools - fun addition to any collection!
