1951 Press Photo New Marine recruits from New Orleans go to Parris Island

This is an original press photo. New Orleans boys who join the Marines are getting a long trip to begin with. Usually sent to Parris Island for boot training, the New Orleans recruits are now sent to San Diego. The reason, Paris Island is already overcrowded with Marine Corps volunteers. Shown above are Staff Sergeant Edward Richardson Jr., and front row, (left to right) James Kelly, Floyd Loughlin Jr., Hamilton Manifold, Ira Savoie.
