CITRON YELLOW

ANTIQUE THREADED

FLUTED GLASS FINGER BOWL

By

STEVENS & WILLIAMS

Fantastic Antique Victorian Stevens & Williams

threaded Art Glass Citron fluted yellow glass bowl.

c1890

The colour is stunning – a limey, yellowy colour

that I have always called Citron – be it right or wrong.

This finger bowl appears to be by the famous English

glass makers Stevens & Williams in the late

 Victorian Period.

The bowl features a wonderful ruffled form

rim and the entire piece is decorated with

this ‘Thread’ decoration which I presume

is an applied decorative affect – not sure.

Would look amazing in a lit display cabinet.

We have listed another Steven and Williams

Vase (as shown in one photo) that is

Also well worth consideration.

If you look at the group photo I have

included you will get a better idea of

scale and see some of the other

beautiful, colourful, quality items

we are currently listing.

Doesn’t all that colour on my dining

room table just make your heart sing?

I just don’t get Minimalism.

CONDITION

Not in perfect condition but good antique

condition with some signs of age and use.

No chips or nicks to the top fluted rim.

There are two small nicks out of the

edge of ground pontil underneath

– see photo.

There are also some little nicks scattered

around the outer edge of the ‘thread’

decoration which are definitely miniscule

chips but there are also lots of tiny, tiny

little nicks on the top and bottom on this

‘thread’ design and not the edge as

You would expect from being knocked.

Some of this is scattered around but there

Is also a grouping of them in and two areas.

I don’t think this is damage but anomalies

 from manufacturing.

I might be wrong about this but it is all

so tiny that even using a jewelers loop

it’s hard to determine what they are –

they catch the light a bit which is the

only reason you notice them at all.

I have included two high contrast

Photos – the ones that look grey –

to try and show what I mean.

Anyway, it’s not in perfect condition but there

are no sizeable chips either – everything

is pretty teeny weeny and will display

beautifully.

DIMENSIONS

It measures approximately:

12.7cm (5") wide

7cm (2 ¾ ") high

It weighs: 201 grams
