Hand-drawn designs are enhanced by storytelling designs that will not fade away with time, and are carefully silk printed on SIWA's naoron Japanese paper.
Drawings, which capture nature in a pure and fresh way, combined with the texture of the Japanese paper, warmly accompany you in your daily life.
We welcomed "minä perhonen" to silk-screen print their hand-drawn designs onto SIWA | Kamiwa's "Naoron" washi paper, which was then turned into a just-right-sized washi pencil case.
This washi paper pen case is large enough to carry many writing implements at once. It's perfect for carrying around 8 to 10 writing implements, as well as scales and erasers.
The interior has dividers, allowing you to separate items. It can also be used to store bankbooks, invitations, tickets, cards, and passports.
<DESIGN>
From the textile designs previously released by minä perhonen, we have adapted the three designs ― “life puzzle”, “run run run”, and “memoria” ― for SIWA items.
LIFE PUZZLE
The freehand drawing shows a landscape of various animals, which are linked together like pieces of a puzzle.
The design was created by imagining a world in which each life that lives in its own way is peacefully connected.
MEMORIA
The butterflies are crafted one by one using rubber stamps, fluttering in the air and leaving behind traces of brush strokes.
This touch evokes the lingering shadows of the butterflies' dance, inviting us to envision landscapes from distant memories.
RUN RUN RUN
The design features a series of staggered lattice-like patterns, painted with rabbits.
The shading, bleeding, and blurring from the hand-painted strokes are faithfully captured.
The design is light and gentle, vividly portraying rabbits running happily.
With divider This washi pen case is perfect for carrying plenty of colored pencils and writing implements. It can also be used as a makeup pouch, bankbook storage, invitation and ticket holder, or passport case. The divider inside makes it convenient for separating used and unused masks. Made from durable, water-resistant washi paper (Naolon), its soft texture develops with use. [minä perhonen] SIWA minä perhonen pen cases are available in two sizes: "M" and "L." *Pattern appearance may vary depending on cutting. *As all products are handmade, color, texture, and specifications may vary slightly. *Shipping may take some time depending on production conditions. *Please be aware that colors may fade or transfer. SIWA | Kamiwa : Established in 2008, SIWA was born from an encounter between designer Naoto Fukasawa and Naoron, a type of washi paper developed with the aim of creating durable, tear-resistant shoji paper. Originally, washi paper was an integral part of Japanese life, used for shoji screens, sliding doors, rain gear, clothing, bedding, and more. However, as times changed, it gradually disappeared from our daily lives. Fukasawa has discovered the universality of washi paper, which can be used seamlessly in modern life while making the most of the characteristics of the material. The product is produced by Onao, the developer and manufacturer of Naoron. Each piece is carefully crafted in Ichikawa Daimon, a washi-producing region in Yamanashi with a thousand-year history.
The pen case is made of hard Naoron paper. It can be washed by hand, so it's also useful as a portable toothbrush case, carrying your toothbrush and toothpaste. "Naoron" is a new type of paper made using the same method as washi paper making. It feels nice to the touch, is light and flexible, yet very strong. It's also water-resistant and tear-resistant.
