This is an original WWII U.S. Army Mackinaw Coat, Type 2, dated October 23, 1943, and manufactured by Oak Brand Mfg. Co. under contract P.Q.D. 252A, Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot. Sized 38R, this authentic second-pattern Mackinaw features a durable olive drab cotton shell, wool blanket lining, and distinctive double-breasted front with large shawl collar and all original brown buttons. Designed for cold-weather service, this model was widely issued to drivers, engineers, and transportation personnel during the winter campaigns of 1944–45, including the Battle of the Bulge. The coat remains in excellent, fully original condition with no restoration or reproduction parts, retaining its complete 1943-dated label and wartime patina—an ideal example for collectors, reenactors, or museum display.
This is an original historical artifact from the Second World War era, and therefore shows natural wear and tear resulting from age and regular use during the period.
