This book is titled "Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (England) London West (Excluding Westminster Abbey)." It is Volume II of the series.
The Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME) was a government advisory body established in 1908 to document buildings and monuments of historical and architectural importance in England. Includes a fold out map (~40x30”).
The RCHME's purpose was to create an inventory of historical monuments and constructions from the earliest times to 1700.
The inventory was published in a series of books, often organized by county or region, such as the one shown for "London West".
The RCHME was merged with English Heritage in 1999.
