Ecclesiastical India
Please note, extremely rare Map and intended for an enlightened collector.

Map missionary of 1887 by R. Hausermann entitled "Ecclesiastical India", scale of 1:7,500,500. Very rare copy of this Map . Only one known copy in the National Library of France.

“Let us understand by missionary maps the graphic documents which, drawn up by a missionary, represent the mission and serve its interests. Some are handwritten, others published in specialized missionary journals, but all of very different content, size and style. Despite their individuality, all these cards aim at a common objective: to report the apostolate to eyes far from the mission field. (...) This collection of mission spaces is above all made possible by the uniformity of the representation, ensured by the engraver-printer Rémi Hausermann. From the first maps, he established a simple and clear style, without however reducing the information, which he then reproduced for fifteen years. Without real competition, the engraver has a monopoly on the mapping of the missions entrusted to him by the Work of the Propagation of the Faith. Its large documents are suitable for display or exhibition and call for collective consultation, undoubtedly among communities of the faithful. Hausermann is also associated with the most unique maps of the Work, those which contain the exclusive information gathered by the missionaries. "" (Excerpt from Jean Michel Vasquez)
