This 1901 USA Ten Dollars Legal Tender Bison
Note, was issued in 1901, and is a piece of American history. The note refers
to the Series of 1901 $10 Legal Tender Note, a large-sized U.S. paper bill
nicknamed the "Bison Note" or "Buffalo Bill" due to its
central image of an American bison. The front of the note features red
serial numbers and a red Treasury Seal. It also features portraits of explorers
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. It was the only denomination from the fifth
issue of the United States Note series. It is a popular collector's item, known
for its distinctive design and its place as one of the last large-size Red Seal
notes. Despite its association with "Buffalo," the bison pictured is
not the famous "Black Diamond" bison that inspired the Buffalo
nickel. The bison on the 1901 note was modeled after the National
Zoological Park Bison No. 2926. The back of the note depicts a female figure of
Columbia standing between pillars. The note is classified as a Banknote
and has a Grade of 15 Choice Fine and has no tears, no pin holes, no missing
corners, and most importantly, no comments! The banknote has been certified by
PMG and is a great find for anyone looking to add a unique piece of world
currency to their collection.
