VINTAGE RUSSIAN HAND PAINTED BOX

Striking and lovely little vintage hand painted metal oblong box measuring 2-5/8" long, 1-1/2" wide and about 1"deep. Featuring pierced metal sides, porcelain top is slightly dome shape with a wonderful, detailed, hand painted image of Russian "onion" dome architecture. Underside of the box bears a lovely incised pattern as well, with a minute flower head mark in circle within the center - box interior is lined in a grey felted material. Haven't a clue as to age - this was a souvenir purchased by my Grandmother on one of her many trips to the country - I would guess possibly 1960s or 1970s??

Condition is lovely with no damage and just a hint of wear - the metal finish is dark and reminds me of pewter - it may polish up, but I'm not positive. There is a long line (finer that a hair) on the top of the porcelain - I thought it was a crazing line, but cannot tell for sure - it cannot be caught, and is invisible without a loop. A lovely vintage miniature box - wonderful addition to any collection or display!

If questions, please contact me - thanks!
