Oil painting on copper depicting Mary Magdalene, wearing a white drape falling from her shoulders. She sits with her back to a dark rock against a blue sky, her eyes watering and raised to the heavens, before a book resting on a skull, a symbol of vanity. Beside her is a vase of ointment, her traditional attribute. Her posture and attitude are reminiscent of the Penitent Magdalene painted by Titian and now housed in the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
