MINTY 1958 Medal "For Labor Distinction" (BEKWAAM ZEDELUKHEID HABILETE MORALITE)

VINTAGE FRENCH MEDAL

Striking and minty vintage Belgium medal "FOR LABOR DISTINCTION" measuring 4" in size. Featuring an ornate enameled, embossed and pierced oval medal with overlaid gold crossed tool design, top is finished with a lovely crown and jump ring onto which the original black yellow and red ribbon is attached - accented with ribbon wheel and dual straight pins for mounting. Medal bears the words BEKWAAM ZEDELUKHEID HABILETE MORALITE - I believe this was a 25 year labor medal, a decoration by the Belgium labor department for years of service using knowledge, talent and dedication in the pursuit of work.

Medal condition is minty - there is vibrant cobalt blue enameling within the leaf design, and red enamel around the pierced center - complete with a rampant lion on crest underneath the crown - I think this is silver, but not positive. Acquired recently from the estate of an avid Napoleon collector - it is a colorful and handsome piece. Wonderful addition to any display!
